Random Thoughts Thursday

I haven't done a "RTT" post in a long time. Not that you care.

Last night the phone rings. I looked at the caller ID. I was from a 319 area code. So I don't answer (probably a telemarketer) and go to ask Kyle if he's familiar with that area code. He's not, but we hear someone leaving a message on the machine, but still think it's probably a wrong number etc. Kyle listens to the message before bed...it was Michael. We will now start answering the phone for a 319 area code. Sorry!

My friend Alyssa has a little boy who is in 1st grade this year. A few weeks ago she cleaned out some of his old toys and asked if we might like a few hand-me-downs. Of course! She dropped the off this morning while Luke was eating breakfast. So I would like to thank Alyssa for completely occupying Luke ALL MORNING LONG! He didn't get in trouble once! The "best" toy was a Batman set complete with Batman, Robin, the Joker, a Batcave, motorcycle and helicopter. The motorcycle is currently out of commission as he dropped it in the toilet while he was going to the restroom. So now we have to see how it survives a trip through the top rack of the dishwasher.

We are planning a trip to Hobbs to see Kyle's mom, Hap, sister Bridget and her whole family (although in Luke's world that means going to see KALEB!!!!) We haven't been in a long time so this is a much overdue trip. I am NOT excited for the drive, but AM excited to get to spend time with the Vardemans and Cress'. But the thing I am most excited about? I think Hap might actually deputize me this trip. Maybe I'll get to use some of those Body & Soul kickboxing moves I've been working so hard on. I have also been boning up on crime fighting via the TV and through various mystery novelists. I have added another writer to my list of "research", so it will probably be the Nevada Barr addition to the resume that will tip the scales in my favor. Hap is lucky to have me. *wink*

Luke is very excited about fall. He has been asking about his birthday and Halloween and trips to pumpkin patches etc. (And Christmas for that matter) for months now. Really since last Halloween. Anyway, we keep having to tell him, "not until the fall, and that's a really long time from now". Well fall is officially here (even if the weather doesn't agree) and Luke is pumped! I must say, I'm pretty excited too. There just are so many fun things to do this time of year. We'll be starting off our season of craziness (starting now and likely not ending until after Leta's first birthday in January) this weekend with a trip to ride Thomas the Train. We're booked for 9am. That means Leta will be up (willingly) and ready with plenty of time to spare. Kyle and I will be up (grudgingly) and Luke will have to be woken early to get there on time. Luke had fun last year, but I'm expecting him to have an even better time this year. Last year he liked trains but didn't really know who "Thomas" was, having never seen the cartoon at that point. Well, my friends. Things have changed. His whole birthday list involves trains, particularly Thomas, this year. I'll post a "birthday wish" post next.

Kyle orders his protein powder from Body Builders online website. They always send a free plastic cup (which I hate because they don't fit in the dishwasher well) that Kyle makes his protein shakes in. However! This time they sent a free razor. My lucky day! Razors and their blades are so expensive!

We're having Chili Cheese Fries Casserole tonight for supper if either of my readers wants to come over. =)

Random Thoughts Thursday

I think this is the sweetest picture ever.

Our Spring session for Body and Soul begins April 5th. There are classes all over the metro (all different varieties, too!). The class I co-teach is at Quail Springs church of Christ MWF from 9:15-10:15 with FREE childcare. There is a 2 for 1 discout. So a current student can bring a brand new person and they will each receive 50% off. Each class is $3.50. If you have any questions just comment.

Easter is coming up. I'll have to do an Easter post. Luke and I decorated eggs on Tuesday as our "structured play time" (that part was for you Audra =)) Last year it was rainy so he had to hunt eggs inside. It's supposed to be nice on Sunday so hopefully he'll get to hunt outside this year. Leta will probably get the shaft. She's too little for Easter. Luke is excited for a chocolate bunny. On his "New Veggie Tales In The Sink" as he refers to "Rack, Shack, and Benny" they sing, "The Bunny Song" which he really enjoys and now has his heart set on a chocolate bunny for Easter. We'll see if the Easter bunny provides or not =).

We've had great weather here lately. Very warm. Very windy. It's nice to be able to get outside more.

I'm enjoying our At Home Day schedule. Luke likes it too, although when I told him it was Chore Time, he said, "Is chore time over?" BUT he did get to work the dust buster today, and he was all about that. It's helping our mornings to feel like they're going faster and I'm accomplishing our bible time, which was something I've said I wanted to do with him for quite some time now, but never actually did. We read about Noah out of "a real" bible this morning.

Kyle and Traver's opportunity to buy that website didn't work out. So now they're building a new timeshare website. It will be www. TimeshareClassifieds dot com. It's not up yet so there isn't anything to look at. He's been busy working on the resort database and had a little personal party yesterday after his completion of all the Florida resorts. (There are about 500).

This post doesn't seem that random to me, just sort of update-y. Oh well.

Kyle and I had our first date night since Leta was born. Actually since...well, I don't remember when. Mabye our anniversary this past summer? That is sad. Needless to say, we were excited about our 2 1/2 hours of freedom. We went out to eat and EACH ordered dessert (which neither one of us could finish and had to bring home) and then we went to the grocery store.

Kyle decided he wanted apple pie for his birthday. I think that was my first apple pie all the way from scratch myself. When we made them growing up, mom always had the filling canned from our own apple tree, so I could just dump a jar of that in. It turned out really well. Brandon and Shanna Hayes came over with supper that Sunday night and helped us eat it.

Also, that Sunday was the first time for the Oakdale church of Christ to meet. It is a church plant of the Memorial Road church of Christ. We met in a different area of MR for worship last Sunday. There were probably close to 100 in attendance (including children). It was mostly younger families with younger kids, so we were happy to see that. We will continue to meet in Memorial Rd. until September when we'll move to meeting in the Oakdale Elementary school. We'll meet there until the new building is finished. I am very excited about this new church plant and have every reason to hope that it will have all the things I LOVE about Memorial Road with out the massive size. I think we will be very happy there.

Leta should be waking soon to eat so I need to go finish my "Me" time by reading one of the 3 books I'm working on: Becoming Childwise, Making the Terrible Two's Terrific and Training Hearts, Teaching Minds. I don't know if all this reading will equip me or make me feel like a failure. We'll see! = P

Random Thoughts Thursday

I'm eating some pudding right now. Instant pudding is amazing. Powder+milk+a few minutes and you have PUDDING! Oh the wonders of the modern world.

Lately I've been having Luke help me make supper. I keep hearing Rachael Ray say that if you have your children help you in the kitchen, they'll be more likely to try what you've made. I agree. Luke likes to taste every ingredient I'm making something with. He'll eat raw oatmeal. He wants to eat raw chicken. He eats frozen broccoli. He WOULD NOT try the pesto tonight that he help me spread on the french bread. (We made chicken pesto french bread pizza...so yummy by the way. I think I may have to become addicted to pesto)

I've been busy busy busy this week. And through all this business...I don't feel like I'm getting anything done. Frustrating!!! To do list for tomorrow: Put away laundry, gather things for workshop, plan workshop attendance schedule with and around Leta's nursing, make two batches of Peanut Butter Granola Balls.

I got some new yoga pants in the mail yesterday. I've had my others since before Luke was born and I wore them through both pregnancies... they were a BIT stretched out. I was spending more time pulling them up in class than working out. Time for new yoga pants! I think getting new yoga pants might be the equivalent of me saying to Luke, "Guess what, buddy?!?! Christmas comes once a month now!!!!" Anyway, excited to wear them tomorrow and see how they do working out. They'd better be the greatest yoga pants EVER for what I paid for them. I'd better go clip some more coupons.

I can't wait for this summer to be back at the lake. My boating time will be pretty limited with nursing and napping schedules, but it'll still be so much fun. I think my favorite part is the anticipation of thinking of the different people I'd like to have go with us some weekend.

It's late. I'm tired. Nighty night!

Random Thoughts Thursday

There's a blog that I follow and the writer? author? chronicle-er? does a "Random Thoughts Thursday" post nearly every week. And I love them. I only feel the desire to post one of my own after I read hers. But then I don't. What if she thought I was copying her! Well I am.

First off. Do I even have enough random thoughts to merit a blog post? We'll see.

I just stumbled on my new favorite blog. One that I think will actually be a beneficial way to spend my time. I hope to use some time searching through it and reading some different posts. I think it could be helpful.

I've been trying to do my Power Strength DVD one day a week in addition to my MWF Body and Soul classes to try to get back into shape and/or lose these last few lbs that are plaguing my belly that show no signs of leaving. I have several gift cards to spend on new clothes people! And I refuse to go until I look a bit more like my "old" self. I think I'm going to try to talk Kyle into doing the video with me one night to see what he thinks of it.

My living room and kitchen look like a tornado hit it. Why am I sitting here doing nothing when I should be tackling that?

So. I misplaced my Key Word Study Bible a few years ago. I finally went online and bought a new one using a gift card I had received for Christmas. It came yesterday. I KNOW! I didn't order King James. Or at least I KNOW I meant to order the New American Standard Version. So I'll have to return it via mail. And it's a big bible. HEAVY! It's gonna cost a small fortune. Arg. Feeling frustrated with myself.

Body and Soul Spring Workshop is coming up. That means that I'm going to have to start learning the new routines. 16 routines in 2 weeks. AHHHHHH! When am I going to do that when I can't even keep my kitchen unburied?

Ok. Off to start on the kitchen. Luke's nap is about over. Hopefully I'll get interrupted and won't have to finish =P
