4th of July

I just finished looking at Audra's pictures from their 4th of July festivities...and our celebrations pale in comparison. So, if you want to skip reading. Feel free. And I forgot my camera..so no pictures eiter.

We went to the lake with the Sandovals. We left after I returned from Body and Soul that Friday. There wasn't time to boat Friday, but we did make it to the Reingarten that evening for supper with 3 very starving boys. Saturday Leta and I hung out at the house while the gang boated for a while in the morning before getting rained out. They went back out for a while in the afternoon. They did get to go swimming and Luke rode in the tube so all was good in his world. Saturday evening we ate Mexican food and went and bought a few fireworks for the kids. Luke was very excited for this, but one the way home, found out we had gotten smoke bombs and didn't want anything to do with them. We did the fireworks when we got back since Sunday was supposed to be rainy and we didn't want to miss our chance. Luke wasn't so much into it. He really wanted to be, but he was scared of the smoke and the loud noise. So he spent most of the time back against the wall of the garage with his hands over his ears.

We had planned to go to church Sunday morning, but the forecast said that there was a 60% chance of rain in the afternoon, so we skipped and everyone went out again on the boat again (except Leta and I). Johnny and Cindy skied and got some pretty good shots of themselves. Leta and I did get to go on the boat for about 30 minutes that afternoon. We grilled out for supper. We were having a good time until....

Luke woke up Sunday night at 3:00 throwing up. Big mess. And then Monday morning he couldn't keep ANYTHING down. So I rode home in the back of the jeep, holding his throw up bucket for him. Lets just say it wasn't the most comfortable trip I've ever had. He threw up for the last time Monday at 4pm, so we are considering him healthy and we will still be making our trip to Ponca City Thursday to see Pappaw, Grandma Key, Marjorie, Doug, JoAnne, and JIMMY!!! I WILL remember to bring my camera. There is talk of swimming.

Leta news: She is getting up on all fours and rocking, but no crawling yet. Right now, as I type she is trying to get a piece of paper near her and did a tiny bit of army crawling and managed to get her desired object. Her tooth is now big enough to inflict damage, but not big enough to photograph.

Luke: Said to me this morning, "Mommy! We don't have Larry the cucumber OR Bob the tomato. But don't worry. Santa will bring them for Christmas." And we discovered why he's afraid of his smoke detector. He thinks it makes smoke. He still doesn't like the light flashing on it so Kyle put a piece of duct tape over it. Problem solved.

It's been a while

Luke playing with his Mr. Potato Head accessories

And lots of things have been happening, and we've seen lots of people.

First, Bridget and Kaleb came to visit us. They arrived Thursday evening after Luke and Leta were in bed. Then Friday morning, Leta went to Body and Soul with me and the rest of the gang went to White Water Bay (local water park) and had big fun. Apparently Luke was not intimidated with the big water slides and was fine riding them all by himself. It wasn't until later that I found out just exactly all he'd been allowed to do. Let's just say he probably wouldn't have had quite as much fun if I had gone along. Saturday morning Dana (Kyle's dad) came and we all left for the lake. We stopped on the way at the Hard Rock Resort in Tulsa (yeah, you read that right...RESORT in Tulsa, OK) at ate and then continued on our way. We spent Saturday through Monday at the lake and everyone did quite well. We swam, tubed and skied. Dana was "showing Bridget how it's done" and threw his back out, unfortunately. But, at least it was our last evening to be there and it was after we took him out to eat for his birthday when he got a pie in the face =)

Tuesday we came home and when we arrived my parents were here. We spent the rest of the day with them and Wednesday morning before they had to head home. Luke had lots of fun playing and swinging with them and were are looking forward to a visit to them next week. (Not looking forward to the drive, however.)

Leta is busy being cute. She smiles a lot and giggles frequently. She is proving to be hungrier than Luke and so she has already been started on rice cereal. We started her the day before we went to the lake. It hasn't been going just the best so tonight I'm going to try oatmeal to see how that goes over. She has refused to establish a consistent wake up time, but I've decided her waking is due to hunger. Depending on what time she wakes I'll feed her and then put her back down, sometimes until 8:00. (Those are my favorite days!) Other times she'll sleep more towards 7:30. I have tried giving her cereal in the mornings the past two mornings as well, but this morning she wouldn't eat any. I think I'm going to have to monitor how much she nurses to get her to eat cereal, too. She is not napping well still, either. With Luke, he ALWAYS slept 45 minutes, unless he had a fever due to shots or something. She will randomly pull out 1 really long nap, and occasionally do that for a few days in a row. But it's very unpredictable. She really enjoys her tummy time and is currently very into a soft cloth block that Traver gave Luke for his first birthday. She chews and chews on it and flings it around and makes it jingle.

Luke is his normal ornery self. Yesterday I felt the need to hide from him in my bedroom for a while after a particularly whiny and fussy day. He talks up a storm and says funny things (to his biased mother, anyway). He has a lot to say about crocodiles lately. He also has started saying, "No Way Hosanna!" instead of no way Jose. Right now he's playing with his "Mater and Lightning McQeen". They are playing hide and seek. The cars I mean. "Come off the chair Mommy because to see Lighting when he is driving out. Do you see lighting now? He must be hiding! Where could he be?" Is what he is currently saying.

My spring session with Body and Soul is over and I had been looking forward to teaching a 4 week, 5 day a week 6am boot camp, but Leta's wake up time is just to inconsistent for me to commit to that. I'm bummed out. I like to have all day free in the summer. It gives me a bigger chance to do fun things with Luke etc. We'll be starting our Summer Favorites Session Monday May 28th, so I have all those routines to learn.

Off to make supper. I have 2 items left on my meal plan and neither are appealing to me. I think we might just do sandwiches tonight. I really don't feel like cooking.

Weekend

We had a great weekend at the lake. The weather wasn't perfect, but it was still nice to be out and we were able to boat and swim. The best part is, my dad flew his little 4 seater coop plane to Grove and met us on Friday. Luke was so excited when we told him we were going to go to the airport to pick up Grandpa! When we got to the airport Dad had already landed and was walking towards us, though he was still a good distance off. So I told Luke to run to Grandpa and he did. It was so sweet to watch. We mostly just hung around the house Friday night after we picked up my dad. Saturday morning was pretty overcast to start and we knew it would be too cold to swim right away so we went to the airport and "helped" Grandpa fill the plane up with gas. Luke got to taxi to get gas with Grandpa and Mommy, but on the way back, it was just Grandpa and Luke. We then came home and had a quick tour on the boat and then it was home for grilling hamburgers and eating outside. Luke had a nap, and even though I wasn't tired, I managed to nap for 1 1/2 hrs too! Then after Luke woke up we went back out and we all went swimming (Kyle and Dad were jealous of my water shoes. They come in very handy in a lake that is all rock and NO sand!!) and then Kyle and Dad rode the tube. Dad tried skiing, but didn't get up. We then went to eat at the Reingarten (German restaurant...Thanks Tara and Jeremy!!) and it was great. Sunday we went to church (Luke was overtired from his weekend and did NOT behave very well. He managed to have to sit in time out twice and get THREE! spankings). We ate and then took Grandpa to the airport and watched him take off. The ride home with Luke is still too painful to discuss.

Luke and Grandpa were great buds. Luke always wanted to sit by Grandpa, have Grandpa hold him, read to him...whatever. I have a feeling that some people are going to have to work extra hard to get any Luke time when we go to Nebraska for our visit at the end of September.

I, of course, forgot our camera so you'll all have to wait and suffer until I get pictures from my mom when she uploads them, whenever that will be. *hint hint nudge nudge*

It's done!

Kyle and Brandon are at the lake today.  Today we close on the  place at the lake.  Yee haw!  I couldn't go because I had Body and Soul this morning and a car wash tomorrow morning.  Last night Traver and Brandon (THANK YOU!) Came over and helped Kyle load up the U-Haul for moving day and Brandon came over bright and early this morning to go with Kyle to help him unload and assemble.  I'll do all the other stuff when I go next (dishes, bedding etc)  So, needless to say...we're very exctied about the weekends to come.

Kyle has also been builing on the playset for Luke.  He's gotten a couple more hours in on that, so it's coming along slowly but surely.

Luke is asleep right now.  I put him down at 12:20...heard him fuss for just a second at 1 and then he cried for a while at 2 (I really didn't think he'd go back to sleep, but Dear Diary, he did).  He took an almost 3 hr nap yesterday so hopefully he's on the road to adjusting to 1 long afternoon nap.  When he wakes up next we're going to go play outside in the sprinkler.  Kyle bought him a little cheap one that sprays the water in an arch back and forth.  He's never played in it before so he doesn't EVEN know the fun that awaits him.

I also made cookies today for the bake sale which is accompanying our car wash, so I imagine Luke will get a "cook" for a snack.  He's also starting to say the dogs names some.  Woo-See is my favorite one to hear him say.

Anyway, for all you Edmond-ites...our car wash is in the Mardel parking lot on Boulevard and 33rd from 9am to noon.  It's free, but donations are welcome!!!  So come on by and I'll wash your car for you =)

Lake House Update

Kyle went to Grove today to the lake house. He took our old washer and dryer up there and brought back our new RED front loading HE washer and dryer. They're all hooked up and ready to be used. Luke's shoes need to be washed in them. Tonight we walked over to our neighbors to return the dolly we'd borrowed and Luke was just in his shoes and diaper. Their sprinklers were on and Luke thought it was a good idea to play in them. He had lots of fun playing in the FREEZING cold water...and his shoes are definately showing the effects =).

BIG NEWS!

We went to the lake house today to check the progress and pick out our granite remnants for the bathrooms etc. Grandpa Wilbur and Gigi watched Luke for us today and while we were gone HE SAID HIS FIRST WORD!! Car! They told us about it when we got home, so I held one of Luke's cars and asked him what it was, and he said it! I think he's been saying it for a while, but I just didn't realize what was going on, but he was very obvious about it today!

House Update

Here's the latest pictures of the house. We got them today. Ironically, Kyle went to the lake house today and forgot the camera. The neighborhood developer just happened to take these and email them to us! Happy day!

Kyle went up and met with the builder to discuss exciting things like outlets. And phone jacks. Doesn't that just give you chills of excitement??!?!?!?! Yeah. Me neither. But the house is coming along great, and that IS exciting.

Luke took 1 45 minute nap yesterday. He was a bad baby. He did better today, but not by much. He took a 1 hr 10 min morning nap and a 20! minute afternoon nap, followed by an hour crying session, interrupted by periods of screaming when I would go up, lay him back down and say, go to sleep Luke, naptime isn't over. It didn't work, but I tried. On a happy note, Luke turns one on Saturday. His birthday party is at 1pm. He's very excited for his cupcake.

I also joined a coupon swap website today. We'll see. Bring on those Pampers coupons! I need 'em!
