Pappaw, Grandma Key and Marjorie Visit

Sorry the smiling picture or Leta is sideways. I've loaded it every direction and that's all it'll give me. Weird. I took the picture horizontally, too! who knows!

Yesterday Pappaw, Grandma Key and Marjorie came to visit. They were disappointed Luke was asleep, but that gave them some time to just hold Leta and steal her sugars. I did wake Luke up at 3:30 since he was being a sleep head so he wouldn't completely miss them!

Marjorie brought some really cute outfits for Leta for this summer, which is good because we don't have many clothes for her in that size.

Grandma Key mad Luke a "Bread Teddy Bear" which he loves and has been snacking on ever since. We had a really nice afternoon.

Leta is enjoying The Itsy Bitsy Spider so that top picture is of her smiling this morning while I was singing that to her. She hasn't rolled over any more. She is still sleeping well. I'm nursing her at 10:30 (and she doesn't eat much because she's JUST. SO. EXHAUSTED!) and then waking up sometime after 3am (last night 3:45, the night before it was 4!!!) and then her wake up time is 7:30am, which comes to early for me it seems! She is a better nurser than Luke and we're already down to 30 minutes average per nursing session, which is nice. During her middle of the night feeding it takes more like 45 minutes, but she's eating a lot at that time.

I've started going back to work out at Body and Soul. It's nice to get out of the house and the workout is great! I've been missing it!!

1 month old today...and 32 years old today....

Happy 32 Michael!

Leta celebrated turning 1 month old today by rolling over from her tummy to her back. I went back and checked my blog (the main reason I keep a blog! You two readers are the other reason...) and Luke rolled over at 14 weeks. Leta rolled over at 4 weeks and 3 days. Clearly she's advanced.

Kyle went to run in another track meet today. So Luke and I left Leta having tummy time in the living room and went to tell Kyle good-bye at the door. When we came back Leta had the top half of her body mostly rolled over and as Luke and I watched, slowly the rest of her followed. Rolling over is officially her first "skill." She's got skillz now. SKILLZ!

Luke at just over 1 month.

Kids say the darndest...

In my previous post I wrote about my "I love you" song that Luke says, "Mommy, I don't love that song" about. So today I was singing it to him again, and he told me he didn't love that song so I was trying to convince him that it was his favorite and that he loved it and he looked at me and said,"
Mommy. Don't talk to me."

Luke is funny.

Today:

Luke: "Leta, be quiet, I'm trying to play toys."

Me to Luke: I love you! (over and over and over and over)
Luke: Mommy, I don't like that song.

Saw this recipe on Elizabeth Mullins blog today and had to try it since I had all the ingredients.

She renamed the recipe, so I thought I could, too.

Peanut Butter Granola Balls AKA POWER BALLS!

1 Cup Natural Peanut Butter
1/2 - 3/4 cup honey
1/2 cup raisins, craisins, or your favorite dried fruit
1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup freshly ground flax seed
2-3 cups whole oats

Step 1 - Mix peanut butter & honey together.
Step 2 - Mix in all other ingredients.
Step 3 - Line pan with wax paper & scoop out decent sized balls to store in the refrigerator or freezer.

They're no bake and really fast and easy to make. I used a cookie scoop to make my balls. I got 29 balls.

NEW! Additional tips!  If you double the recipe, 1 small jar of peanut butter fits the bill.  I have also started switching to agave nectar instead of honey.  I also like to add cinnamon and ~100grams of vanilla whey protein powder and about 1/2 cup less of the oatmeal.  I like Quick Oats because they're smaller.

Leta meets her Nebraska Grandparents!

Story time!

Leta's first bath.
Nice snow outfit, Luke *wink*
Grandpa and Leta...both sleeping like babies =)
Luke in his soccer warm-ups from Grandma and Grandpa O.
Boy was I ready to see Mom and Dad! Mostly because Luke had been such a terror and I knew that a distraction was just what he needed. And I was right. It was very nice to have a break from a fussy Luke. Although by that point he was on the upswing again, attitude wise.

Feelin' Better

Luke loves his baby sister!

Letters for Leta's room. Now we just have to get them hung.

January was a really rough month at the Soper house, with illnesses...oh delivering a baby, not sleeping and having a 2 year old that did NOT adjust well to his much loved little sister.

But, things are better on all fronts. Leta is a good sleeper and doing well at night for her age (3 weeks this past Wednesday). I generally feed her around 10:30, 3:30 and 7:30. Sometimes she likes to mess with me though and not get to comfortable with this night-time nursing schedule =).

We are all finally feeling all better (Kyle got the horrible cold last so he is still recovering more than the rest of us). I got pink eye this past week (what!?! I have NO idea how that happened. I don't know anyone who's had it and I haven't even left the house hardly!) Hopefully I'll be the only one to catch that.

Luke is doing MUCH better. We're back to our normal sleeping schedule for him. HUGE HALLELUJAH! He still will have fussy days, but overall is back to his normal self. We do have this conversation a lot:
Me: OK, Luke! Leta is hungry it's time for me to feed her.
Luke: No, Mommy. Leta not hungry.

Kyle is running unattached at an OC indoor track meet held in Norman today. His second one this season. He's hoping to improve his time. We'll see. I told him he shouldn't run because he's sick. Hopefully he runs well and doesn't overdo it and make himself feel worse.

Last night was a first for us. We went out to eat at "The Kangaroo Restaurant" as Luke calls Outback, as a family of four. Leta fell asleep about 10 minutes after we got there and Luke ate well. It was deemed a success and we might even try it again sometime!

Tomorrow is the Sip and See for Leta and I so I'm looking forward to that. I'll be out of the house and with other adults!

Monday if the weather is good and Leta has her morning at 7:30, then I plan on taking Luke to childcare at Body & Soul, Leta and I running errands at Target and then going back to B&S to pick Luke up and let the girls take a gander at Leta since they've never met her before! It will be good to be out of the house again and I think Luke will enjoy playing with all his friends at Body and Soul.

And, I'm in the process of scheduling a cleaning for our rugs. After 3 years of living on them, it's time.
